Alibaba Cloud, the digital technology and intelligence arm of Alibaba Group, has officially launched its first cloud region in Mexico.
This marks a significant step in its efforts to support Mexico’s digital transformation and strengthen its presence in Latin America.
The new infrastructure aims to provide businesses, startups, developers, and organisations with secure, scalable cloud services, enhancing growth and innovation opportunities in the region.
With this launch, Alibaba Cloud now operates 87 availability zones across 29 regions.

“The launch of our Mexico Region underscores our long-term commitment to serving this vibrant market,”
said Selina Yuan, President of International Business, Alibaba Cloud Intelligence.
“We are not only bringing world-class cloud technology to support local businesses but also building an inclusive and thriving ecosystem in Mexico together with our local partners, developers and customers to foster innovation, collaboration, and sustainable growth across Latin America.”
Manola Zabalza, Secretary of Economic Development of the Government of Mexico City, stated,

“Mexico City is the technological, financial, economic, investment and innovation engine in the world, and we are setting a benchmark in the digitalisation process. With the arrival of Alibaba Cloud, we are getting closer to consolidating our position as a cutting-edge digital metropolis, providing more advanced tools for startups, entrepreneurs and companies in strategic sectors.”
The Mexico Region offers cloud services including elastic computing, storage, networking, container, and security solutions, all compliant with ISO and CSA certifications.
The cloud infrastructure is designed to meet the needs of key industries such as e-commerce, logistics, fintech, and telecom while ensuring low latency and data sovereignty.
Alibaba Cloud also offers cost-effective services with flexible pricing models to enable businesses of all sizes to optimise costs while scaling operations.
As part of its long-term strategy, Alibaba Cloud plans to introduce local initiatives, including talent development programmes in partnership with universities and institutions to equip students with cloud and AI skills.
It will also support SMEs and developers by promoting cloud adoption, and organise hackathons, workshops, and innovation challenges to encourage the use of cloud and AI in solving real-world problems.
Yuan added, “Leveraging Alibaba Cloud’s global network, Mexican companies can tap into other markets, particularly in Asia. Local businesses will benefit from Alibaba Cloud’s technology expertise, market insights, and dedicated support across regions to expand their global footprint.”
Alibaba Cloud established a customer service centre in Mexico City in 2022 to provide regional support.
Since then, it has collaborated with local firms such as Soft180, CONTPAQi, Coonectate, UST, Sobot, Viko, YunTek, Whale Cloud, VDE Suite, and Dexmi to offer consulting services and industry-specific solutions.
