Crypto.com has secured its Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) registration from Argentina’s National Securities Commission (CNV), allowing it to offer regulated cryptocurrency products and services in the country.
The company will continue working with the CNV to obtain a full operating licence under the new regulations introduced on 14 March 2025.
“The Latin American market, particularly Argentina, is experiencing significant growth in cryptocurrency adoption and is a key focus of Crypto.com’s expansion strategy,”
said Alain Yacine, President of Latin America at Crypto.com.
“We are pleased to have achieved this regulatory milestone and look forward to providing Argentine consumers and traders with a comprehensive and secure crypto trading experience.”
Crypto.com will begin rolling out localised services through its app.
It previously introduced ARS fiat wallet services in 2022.
A study conducted by the company found that 46% of Argentine respondents consider the ability to spend cryptocurrency using a debit card important, while 57% said they are likely to invest in cryptocurrency in the next year.
This follows Crypto.com’s launch of its Visa card in Latin America in November 2024 and its partnership with investment bank BTG Pactual in February 2024.
The company holds several licences and registrations globally, including approvals in the European Union, the United States, Singapore, the United Kingdom, and Dubai.
