Thread AI, a New York-based company focused on composable AI infrastructure, has raised US$20 million in Series A funding.
The round was led by Greycroft, with participation from Index Ventures, Scale Venture Partners, Plug-and-Play, Meritech Capital, and Homebrew.
Thread AI was founded by former Palantir executives Angela McNeal and Mayada Gonimah.
The company’s platform, Lemma, is designed to help enterprises build and manage AI-powered workflows that are adaptable to their existing systems.
Many organisations face challenges when attempting to integrate AI into complex environments.
Often, they are limited to using rigid, off-the-shelf tools that do not align with their workflows, or they must invest heavily in custom-built solutions that require significant engineering resources.

“Companies today face a frustrating dilemma when implementing AI, either settle for rigid, pre-built applications that force them to fit their business logic into a predefined structure, or invest heavily in talent, infrastructure, and engineering resources to build custom AI workflows from scratch,”
said Angela McNeal, Co-Founder and CEO of Thread AI.
“Thread AI offers a flexible platform that lets organisations build AI workflows suited to their operations, without compromising scalability or security.”
Lemma differs from traditional robotic process automation (RPA), extract-transform-load (ETL) systems, or workflow tools that attempt to replicate human processes or demand significant infrastructure.
Instead, it supports the rapid development and deployment of event-driven, distributed AI workflows and agents. The platform accommodates multiple AI models, APIs, and applications under one framework, and includes enterprise-level security features.
According to the company, this enables faster deployment, reduces operational complexity, and supports consistent model updates without compromising governance or oversight.
As enterprise adoption of AI shifts from isolated tools to broader, integrated systems, there is increasing interest in platforms that combine features of RPA, ETL, and orchestration tools.
According to Thread AI, users of Lemma have reported a 70% improvement in process response times and significant efficiency gains.
Some early customers have reportedly increased their AI implementations by between 250% and 500%, pointing to the platform’s scalability and applicability across different functions.
